Reelz premiered season 13 of the documentary-style television series investigating deaths of celebrities in the beginning of May, and announced this week a future season 13 episode will eye Eazy-E (air date to be announced).
An all-new investigative docuseries, titled The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E, takes a deep dive into the rap star’s 1995 death.
The series, premiering Aug. 12 on WE tv, will feature never-before-seen footage and interviews that chronicle Eazy-E‘s life and legacy. Eazy, né Eric Wright, was a founding member of California gangsta rap group N.W.A alongside Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Arabian Prince. The group, originated in 1987, is behind the top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Straight Outta Compton.” Their debut studio album, with the same name, peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
Throughout The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E, the late rapper’s daughter Ebie Wright, her mom Tracy Jernagin and hip-hop journalist Jasmine Simpkins search to find answers to longstanding questions surrounding Eazy’s death. Eazy-E died at age 31 after he was diagnosed with AIDs. However, some speculate that there may have been foul play involved.
Prior to his March 26, 1995, death, Eazy-E had co-founded Ruthless Records alongside Jerry Heller. It was a subsidiary of parent company Comptown Records Inc.
The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E is executive produced by Ebie and Jernagin, DJ Skee, Thao Dipolito, John Halterman, Tom Forman, Jon Beyer, Jeff Dawson, Lauren P. Gellert, David Stefanou and Lauren Lazin.
