El Rancho High graduate was a beloved figure as a baseball coach and mentor in the community and three-time area coach of the year
One of the area’s most beloved high school baseball coaches, El Rancho’s Larry Patino, died suddenly on Thursday, El Rancho athletic director and football coach Adrian Medrano confirmed. Patino was 49.
Details about Patino’s death were not released, but his passing was a shock to those who knew the colorful coach who loved to mentor athletes and kids of all backgrounds.
Patino leaves behind his wife Maril and six children — sons Adrian and Angelo, and daughters Gilana, Leilani, Mina and Larina.

I had the honor to speak with him a few times over the phone. He was a very cool person and was very supportive of what i was doing keeping Eazy’s memory going with for new and old fans. Also He was excited to be part of the Ruthless Family album that i am currently finishing up. I only wish i could have hanged out with him in person. Today BIG MAN passed away. He was a close friend of Eazy-E before the NWA days and until Eazy’s passing.
I had the honor of meeting BIG MAN many years ago and also did some work with him and DJ Yella on their website. He was always a very nice to us and supportive of the work we were doing in keeping Eazy’s memory alive. RIP BIG MAN 04/22/2016
